We are an Iowa-based grassroots organization dedicated to building true democracy by ending corporate control of our economic and political lives. We engage, educate, and activate people to work for democracy by asserting the peoples' rights over the dominance of a few transnational corporations. We are united in our desire to make the promise of democracy a reality. In a true democracy, government is of, by, and for the people. In the United States, we have at present a government of, by, and for corporate America.
In corporate-controlled America, profit is more important than clean air or clean water. It can even be said that profit is more important than peace to the corporations that are arms dealers to the world. We want to change all that.
WILPF Working Mission Statement: United for Democracy (UFD) is a project of WILPF that works towards building true democracy through education and grassroots activism. UFD focuses on informing citizens about how mega-corporations undermine our democracy. UFD exposes the connection between corporate power and economic, social and political issues.
